STEP 3: Make Your Read Sample Section Work for You
The Read Sample (or “Look Inside the Book”) feature on your Amazon book listing gives potential buyers a sneak peek at your book. This first impression can influence their decision to purchase, so it’s important to make sure it highlights the best parts of your book!
Take a moment to check your listing and preview your Read Sample. Does it showcase your book effectively? If not, consider updating your front matter to include:
- A sample page that showcases your book’s content, such as multiple coloring images or activities, giving buyers the preview you want them to see.
- Links to your website or social media to encourage engagement.
- Any other relevant details that add value for the reader.
If needed, update your book file and reupload it to Amazon KDP.
Changes to the Read Sample may take a few days to reflect, so plan accordingly. Optimizing this section ensures that potential readers see the best of what your book has to offer.
Optimize your Read Sample this week to make a strong visual first impression and give shoppers a reason to hit “Buy Now.”

P.S. The Read Sample feature isn’t available in some Amazon marketplaces and doesn’t apply to books without an ISBN, including low-content books. Check the full details and conditions on the KDP Support page here: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G200644250
