Five years ago this fall since our family moved to a farm in rural Oregon. Over the course of commuting the long country roads I have been witness to multiple varieties of road kill.
But this summer about a mile out, on the side of the road was a dead baby coyote. I had heard them howl in the woods but this was the first one I had seen up close. Then every day for about two weeks I had to drive by that canine-like flattened and decomposing furry little critter.
It reminded me of those tasks we as business owners know we should do, but don’t. The idiom of the “elephant in the room” so to speak. You know what it is you need to do, but don’t do it. You pass by it daily, but you procrastinate until it stagnates.
This week I was talking with a former participant of my popular workshop, “Add a Flood of New Customers through Free Internet Advertising.” She told me what fantastic material it was for building and marketing her business online. She gave a glowing testimonial and had even referred other business owners to the class, but confessed to procrastinating implementation of the free tools and techniques herself.
With just three months left this year would you say you are on-target with the goals you set for 2010? Or are you ignoring and procrastinating important tasks that could make a substantial difference?
It’s time to buckle down, and get those things done! Make it a priority to do what you must to build and market your business for a smashing great end of the year. So pick up the phone and call the client, schedule the meeting, write the blog, learn a new skill, implement a great marketing campaign and build your business strong.
There are 85 days left this year – if you want to learn how to “Add a Flood of New Customers through Free Internet Advertising” register for the Monday October 11th workshop!
Do something to build your business today. Because I don’t want hear about one more company that slowly decomposes into nothingness like that baby coyote on the side of the road.
Sincerely,
Michelle Brubaker
