“Are You Famous?”
That’s what the instant message said when it popped up in my Google last week.
For several days a girl with the screen name “Abby” kept initiating a chat with me.
“Hello” she would type. “I don’t believe I know who you are?” I replied.
The next day again she would pop up in my chat.
“Sarah told me how to get a hold of you here” she said.
I think to myself, I know very few Sarah’s.
“Your brother Bradley and I went to school together” she said.
“I don’t have a brother Bradley” I replied.
A barrage of chats kept coming through repeatedly for days, often interrupting my work.
“How old are you?” she asked one day.
Hmm now a question I have to think about how to answer. I carefully prepared my response and said,
“In my 40’s…

I didn’t want to give out too much information regarding my exact age (since I didn’t even know who this person was). I figured if I gave my website address she would see a picture of me online and then realize I wasn’t who she thought I was.
“I’m only 10″ she chatted back.
The very next day, after she assumingly looked at my website she asked,
“Are you famous?”
I was delighted to here my online presence gave such a renowned impression!
Now you know I’m going to ask all of my readers this same question too.

It’s the beginning of a new month. I always teach in my seminars to Google your name, your business name, your keywords, and even your competition, every single month to see where your business is ranking. I challenge you to take the time this week and do it.
If your online presence needs a little polishing up, then I challenge you to get on your website and/or blog and do that as well.
